Now that Sandy has come shore there are millions without power because our government utilities haven't learned from the past storms. We have to demand our cities and states bailout our infrastructure with putting Electricity, Cable, Internet, and telephone lines underground. It will cost billions but I rather see it spend on the above instead of Wall Street, Car Companies, or Insurance companies. Our government doesn't realize that our defense of our infrastructure is a national defense priority. People who are hit by these storms would have power, water, and cable if ALL utilities are put underground. Write to your congressman and senators and express you being fed-up with this ignoring of our civil rights. We pay taxes, we pay high utility bills, we pay high cable, and telephone bills. Why then isn't the money spent to reduce the overhead of all of these be providing reliable utilities in any weather. Why are cities getting flooding? We don't spend money to update and upgrade our sewage system, treatment plants.
Is Sandy another wake-up call to protest to everyone in state, local, and national government that we the people are being ignored over special interest groups and large corporations.
The proof is in the lack of having a national network of high speed fiber optic internet, weather proof utilities in underground insulated, high quality pipes,(power outage for 12 hours)
Millions of people have been flooded due the storm from lack of up to date sewage and drainage systems nationally, out of date, power distribution power stations and underground power lines.
We the people demand modernization of our national infrastructure. We were all active in the 1960's, today we text, facebook, and twitter our concerns. It is going to take much more to let our elected officials know how upset we are today.
Look at New Orleans and how even after all these years the insurance companies still haven't paid for all the homes to be replaced that were destroyed or damaged, many people just moved out and never came back. FEMA is ineffective because they are so top heavy. Remember all the rapes and terrible things that happened to people who stayed in the Super Dome in New Orleans after the hurricane.
We need to bring back the KISS concept. People today have to take drug tests, background tests, emotional intelligence tests, etc... just to get a job. This same top heavy management permeiates through out the management of all the utility companies and railroads. Action need to be taken now or shall we wait for another disaster to remind us of how the system is broken and needs restructuring and repair.

P.U.U.N. - Put Utilities Underground Now - Part I
P.U.U.N. - Put Utilities Underground Now - For millions of years it has snowed in New England and every year it is summer with ever increasing average world temperatures. There are power outages every year due to the lack of long term infrastructure planning. Bureaucrats and utility companies think in the short-term about saving a few dollars with overhead lines, that come down every time there is a thunder storm or cold snap somewhere in the United States. We have to develop a permanent solution to this annual problem. People die, and suffer every winter from freezing to death due to power outages from blizzards and in the summer from sweltering heat due to old transformers overheating, and from monsoon type storms that cause trees to fall on power lines, every year.
We have to remove the unsightly power line poles, cable, phone, utility lines, and Internet lines overhead. This project would employ millions of power and restore peoples faith in maintaining a reliable power, water, and communications infrastructure.
We have to establish a long term plan to put all power line underground in the United States.
Solar Farms in Arizona, utilizing the federal land to build 100 mile x 100 mile solar farms for the United States.
We need Fiber optics nation wide to replace the aging and out of date phone lines and cable lines that transmit slow phone and Internet connections to millions of people. Our politicians, many of them don't have the technical training or knowledge to understand how the lack of modernized infrastructure can effect and retard the growth of any societal growth.
If only more people had an understanding of science and technology. Many conservative politicians, don't understand the complexity of the foundation needed to sustain the existence and growth of a civilization. Food, Water, Shelter, Reliable Energy, and Communications services are
pivotal in any society. The payback for this investment will be a hundred fold in growth productivity of reliable infrastructure.
Increased reliable communications in the 21st century with fiber optics everywhere will yield almost unlimited speed limits as new laser and fiber transmission technology is available any speed is possible up to the speed of light.
We need to invest in the future for our society to grow and prosper.

Power lines NOT Underground? Long Term Neglect of Aging Infrastructure effects millions!
People paid the high price of neglect at Utility lines not being put underground years ago when property taxes were at an all time high. State and Utility Companies gambled and Lost at the home owners suffering and expense.
People paid the high price of neglect at Utility lines not being put underground years ago when property taxes were at an all time high. State and Utility Companies gambled and Lost at the home owners suffering and expense.
My wife and dogs are freezing in our house. We are moving away from New England!
I used to have 100 gallon tank with fish, They are all dead thanks to state neglect!
No power, no phone, no internet, no television, no ability to cook or preserve food.
Your time has run out in putting all power lines underground as in many states. We have had to pay for your lack of vision, your bean counter must be proud of themselves.
I as a paying customer think is long overdue to have all power lines in the state eventually be put underground in insulated cables. Get federal funding as part of an infrastructure plan. Where has all the money citizens of CT has gone!
Every year there is snow, every year power lines come down, every year someone has a power outage in the state. When are you going to serve the interests of the citizens of this state!

Solutions to Congress -- They need to make sacrifices as well
WE as a people are not being heard by the people.
WE the people feel the, WE the corporations by the Corporations so help us God, is who is represented in Washington.
Mandate ALL contributions to Senators and Congressmen be diverted to charities. Have S & C have a fixed salary of their $150K with the same medical and dental as all Americans and only social security to retire.
How many of the 400 home in New Orleans are still not replaced or rebuild!?
Why did it takes 5 days to get water to the Super Dome in New Orleans!?
Why is there no moratorium on outsourcing and removal of oil from the stock exchange?
Demand all those companies including Wall Street, the Insurance companies pay back all the monies they received and to lower all interest rates on loans, and ease personal loans. We pay over $2 billion a day in interest on the national debt.
REVERSE OUTSOURCING,with a 12 year moratorium on outsourcing and reduce H1V Visas, give tax incentives for those business's that return jobs home.
Those jobs that are outsourced should adhere to the same labor laws and regulations that exist in the United States, along with working conditions and environmental laws in those countries if they want our business.
Reverse outsourcing of furniture manufacturing that used to be in North Carolina and other states. Prices are mostly set my supply and demand.
REPLACE all the jobs currently being done in China with prison inmates doing the same work from U.S. prisons, thereby reversing that outsourcing, and give skills to inmates for after they leave prison. Use Arizona and New Mexico as the energy states by building Solar Panels on least 200x200 miles of federal land, and 100 De-Salination plants build along both coasts then unlimited fresh water for everyone. They will be built over 10 years using all unemployed labor in the United States. With this farmers will have unlimited fresh water can give us lower food prices due to cheap water and energy, competing with China and other countries.
Farming in the Sky
Each major city will have a skyscraper in the center exclusively designed to grow food with sophisticated redirection of water, heat, and light to food growth areas that would have each floor at least twice to three times the normal height of a building floor. There would a central shaft or area where light would be directed down using reflectors and other means to bring light into each floor for food production. A central transportation and cleaning system would enable the grown produce to exit the building from a loading dock to all grocery locations.

WE NEED TO BECOME A MORE COMPETITIVE NATION, INSTEAD OF COPING OUT BY OUTSOURCING!
I HOPE TO GOD YOU WILL LISTEN TO ME. YOU NEED TO REPLACE HALF THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH WITH SCIENTISTS AND ENGINEERS TO ADVISE ON HOW TO REBUILD AMERICA, and make a fixed percentage of the budget always for schools, roads, bridges, dams, electrical wiring.
There is no reason the power in San Diego should have gone out, the wiring there is probably 50 years old.
We need to rewire this nation, put wiring underground in all areas with hurricanes, tornadoes and high winds by law.

Insourcing American Manufacturing back to America
Employment contracts are obsolete in today's economy. We have strifed for forty years for better working conditions, unions, various labor acts only to have it all superfluous with the outsourcing of manufacturing overseas with no support of the federal government. All our unions are useless because they are being slowly eliminated today and there are no international labor laws or labor acts passed by the United Nations that if they did exist are enforceable. We need a ten year moratorium on outsourcing with a tax incentive to in source the return of manufacturing jobs, and become competitive with other nations by spending billions to lower the cost of energy needed to manufacture everything from clothing, furniture, cars, boats, and airplanes. If we had solar energy on every roof top and business in the united states with today's super efficient solar cells and a thousand water desalination plants, the cost of manufacturing all goods would be so much less, even with higher wages that it would be cost effective to return of manufacturing plants to the United States.
We have forgotten what is like to be competitive and it is easier to sell out to the lowest bidding country without thinking about the long term implications of our decisions. Today China has 2 trillion in surplus money, our money we gave them for goods, many cheap and poorly made. They want to give millions to our schools to help our educational system, as long as the children are taught Mandarin Chinese. That is what communism is all about. They are a very patient people and are slowly becoming the largest economic power in the world. They are spending trillions for their transportation infrastructure, expanding their educational and computer systems; Their energy system with new hydroelectric dams, solar plants will make their cost of manufacturing go down, while we are forever debating the issue with no resolve. There are downsides of our current democracy because we debate forever but don't make any long term commitments for change, there is always some special interest group out there wanting a piece of the pie. Our congress is pulled all directions due to billions promised to those companies who helped elect the president and most of congress. The Declaration of Independence should say for the corporations by the corporations so help you God.

Wind and Nuclear Energy Today
Nuclear Energy is fission and nuclear fusion. We have been using nuclear fission reactors for over fifty years. We had some horribly poor designs including the one in Chernobyl. We had problems disposing of nuclear waste. Today's design's of nuclear energy are like the difference between computers in the 1960's and computer's today. I believe that much of our energy's needs can be met with nuclear energy, because it is clean and we now have ways to reprocess 95% of all nuclear material for reuse in reactors. What is left is reprocessed into glass and is going to be put in Yuca Flats down almost a mile into descending fault lines. Nuclear fusion is the future of long term energy needs. France is a 100% nuclear nation and has never had a nuclear accident.
The NIF program that I worked on over ten years ago is being used today for using lasers to produce nuclear fusion. Cold fusion is a long ways away but still possible for energy use. With the inconsistent power generations of solar energy and wind power, nuclear power is consistent 24 hours a day.
We should have nuclear power plants under the desert in Death Valley with solar panels all around it tied in for a self contained environment.
There have been numerous reports such as the naval report I have which illustrates all factors are considered for is safe disposal and storage. We also have do deal with the waste from all the nuclear submarines around the world today. I still think taking all the nuclear waste in the world and sending on a shuttle to the sun or moon is the best way to deal with it.
Wind energy is great because there are many areas off the coasts of the United States and windy areas that produce sustained wind all year long. The problem with wind energy is that many birds are killed annually that fly into the wind turbines. In California I have seen hundreds of wind turbines that require a great deal of maintenance to maintain. There are many new designs that I have seen cited in Popular Science and other magazines like Scientific American that are approaching new radical designs of wind generation that increase the output and efficiency of wind power. Eighty countries around the world including Denmark, Spain, Portugal and Germany have between 7-19% of there energy needs from wind power. With new battery technology and electronics for more efficient wind power, the sky is the limit as to what we can do with wind power. The conversion ratio of wind systems is 50% compared to coal, natural gas burning plants and current solar technology is only 18% conversion officially. Exploring new type of 1-8 blade wind turbine engineering we can increase the torque to power conversion ratio as illustrated in the Stiebler. Wind farms can be ideally used in high wind areas of the United States that produce sustained wind. California with 2,096 MW as number one wind farm energy producer.

Water Pollution Today
Water is essential no matter what our government and its water quality says it should be. States and government agencies manipulate allowed pollution levels.
If we don't have sufficient water treatment plants we change the use of chlorine to chloramine, which is a lethal combination of chlorine and ammonia to clean drinking water. But, the new problem is that every pharmacological in the pharmacy is now in large cities drinking water.Everything from birth control pills to cocaine is in New York's drinking water. I try to have a low flush toilet and don't do my laundry except in the evening to lower peak demand. I don't water my lawn because I don't have one in the country. Solutions, build 10,000 desalination plants in the United States and get that money from $100 billion that would be spent on defense. Have secure fresh drinking water forever is the best defense any nation can have, instead of more aircraft carriers, and jetfighters. WE have our nations priorities screwed up. We could build more aqueducts like Rome built to transport water from areas of flooding to areas of draught. With a major national network of aqueducts we could maintain an even distribution of water throughout the United States. I was watching a program on the Science channel about how a desalination plant works. I read that new technology make them 50% more efficient. With unlimited fresh water, this nation could compete in growing more agricultural crops than any other nation in the world. With 1000 sq. miles of the government owned land in Arizona converted to solar farms, then all the power for all the desalination pumps and most of the nations energy needs could be met. Enforcing nation policies on illegal dumping of sewage and toxic wastes into our rivers and lakes is insane. Maybe if there were death penalties for CEO's that pollute in such matters, imposing billion dollar fines for oil spills like that of the oil spill now in the Gulf may discourage reckless endangerment practices by oil companies and oil rigs. People will comply with lowering their wasted water usage if our government would address these polluted water policies and create more water treatment and desalination plants to meet the national needs.
